Holmfirth and the Holme Valley
Set in spectacular pennine countryside, Holmfirth is a vibrant town with plenty of places to eat and drink and lots of things to do.
The varied topography and attractive scenery of the Holme Valley district makes the area a particularly pleasing place to explore on foot and there are many maps and guide books available to help visitors plan a rewarding day out in the pennine Yorkshire countryside. And for a change of scene, the Peak District National Park is just a short drive away across the border in Derbyshire.

Holmfirth is fortunate to have several excellent cafes and restaurants and the town hosts a number of events throughout the year including the Brass Band Contest in April, Festival of Folk in May, Art Week in July and the Festival of Food and Drink in September. And as well as showing the latest films, the Picturedrome Cinema in the town centre is also a rock and pop venue. Top acts performing there include Glen Tilbrook, The Blockheads, Nick Lowe, Bad Manners, Wishbone Ash, Hawkwind and Steve Harley.
